While thousands of Federal Screeners can unionize under the law these same Federal Screeners are unable to achieve full collective bargaining rights as in the private sector.

However  MAWA - Metropolitan Airport Workers Association has found a way to represent these Federal Screeners despite this setback of Federal Law. Through legal litigation and mediation services. MEWA has been able to successfully represent Federal Screeners winning cases upon cases.

Presently MAWA represents Federal Screeners at LaGuardia  Airport, and JFK Airports in New York and talks have begun to have MAWA - Metropolitan Airport Workers Association merge with the SPFPA by this August. If this merger is successful the SPFPA will begin a nationwide. organizing campaign of Federal Screeners

Federal Screeners Your Right to Organize is Protected!

Our federal government protects your right to form, join and participate in a Union. Furthermore, the TSA is bound -- by law -- to remain neutral in your decision-making progress.

Because of some confusion, the TSA distributed a memo in December 2005 which reminds its workers of their Union related rights.
